I’ve always been blissfully unobservant when it comes to paranormal happenings. During my sixth grade class retreat, ghostly ambulance sirens blared from inside our sleeping quarters while I slept through the whole ordeal. When I was a high school freshman, the scent of kalachuchi, a flower commonly used for funerals, inexplicably wafted throughout the classroom a few hours after a mass was held for an upperclassman who died from lupus. All of my classmates smelled it--except me.
Though I’m honestly a bit frustrated by my insensitivity to ghosts and other entities (for purely shallow reasons, like the fact that I have no proper spooky stories to share), I always thank my lucky stars that I’m not one of those people with super-sensitive third eyes, especially since I like going to historical places. The thing is, due to the Philippines’ colorful (and bloody) history, there are so many places in our country that have a lot of scary tales to tell, making it a great destination for a supernaturally-induced adrenaline rush. Read on for five spooky spots you should visit for an unforgettable Halloween!
