If you were a teen or pre-teen in the '90s or early 2000s, you must have caught boy band fever like I did--like most of the female population did! While some ladies would rather pretend their boy band phase never existed, I always remember those days fondly (yes, I still sing BSB's "As Long As You Love Me" in the shower), and I’m not ashamed to admit I fully support the new era of boy bands—especially those Irish and British cuties from One Direction.
I may have transitioned to fangirling K-pop and J-pop groups now, but my boy band first loves will always have a special place in my heart. And with New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys holding a concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on June 3, I thought it was only appropriate that I take out my biscuit tin full of cassette tapes—I was still collecting them in high school even though the world was slowly shifting to CDs—and look back at the boy bands I’ve supported over the years.
