When it comes to dressing myself up, accessorizing is not my strongest point. I'd much rather let my clothes do the talking (though, if I'm going to be honest with myself, I'm just plain lazy to bother with jewelry). As of late, however, I'm slowly opening up to the idea of pairing my ensembles with the right necklace or ring.
But while I'm happy enough with piecing my clothes together without thinking of bracelets, earrings, and the like, I have also read enough fashion magazines to know when a woman's outfit needs a little kick or when she's starting to look like a Christmas tree. Asked by the shoot stylist whether a dress needs more accessories? No problem. Assigned by my managing editor to work on a summer accessories round-up? Sure thing. As someone who likes to think she lives and breathes fashion, there's no avoiding certain aspects of it—even if I don't partake in them myself.
Sometimes, however, accessorizing should be as easy as clasping a favorite bracelet or sliding on a new ring. There's no point in pulling your hair in frustration over what kind of necklace goes with what kind of ring when simplicity will win out in the end anyway. After all, not every event or outing you go to should be a fashion show. As such, here are nine accessories—three for work, three for weekend, and three for party—that will always, always suit your environment.
