5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Jeans-and-Shirt Combo

Make your fail-safe uniform more interesting with these styling tips! By Patricia Dayacap

article_denim-shirt-blog.jpgTo family members and close friends, my writing a blog entry about spicing up a uniform of jeans and a T-shirt is somewhat laughable. See, the thing is, I'm pretty much the last person who should be writing about this. Why, you ask? Let's put it this way: the last time I wore denim jeans was, oh, around three years ago; it was NSTP class, and I was required to do so. You can say I'm the kind of girl who would rather be in dresses and skirts than in jeans or trousers (although as I type this, I am in fact in ikat-print trousers—hooray for me!).

But enough about my silly fashion woes. What matters here is womankind and how most ladies usually resort to one outfit combination during the laziest of days: the good old denim and shirt ensemble. It's not rocket science, it doesn't entail you to think much (if at all), and you probably already have jeans that fit you like a glove and countless shirts to pair them with. But, while easy and painless, defaulting to this outfit can get old, boring, and unimaginative. Not exactly something any woman would want.

The solution? Jeans and shirts like you've never seen them before (I exaggerate, of course)! All kidding aside, below are five styling suggestions that take your favorite wardrobe staples and transform them into outfits that rack up sartorial points.
