ABS-CBN is all set to start 2012 with a bang! Not only do they have a bunch of new teleseryes lined up, but they've also got K-drama City Hunter showing on primetime TV--starting January 23!
This drama is arguably one of the best Korean releases of 2011, gaining acting accolades for its lead actor, Boys Over Flowers star Lee Minho, at the SBS and KBS Drama Awards. Goo Hara of girl group KARA, who plays the president's daughter in the drama, also got the Newcomer Award at the SBS Drama Awards.
In this action- and angst-filled drama, Minho plays the role of vigilante Lee Yoon Sung (aka the City Hunter), who masquerades as an IT worker at the Blue House--Korea's White House--while plotting revenge against the politicians responsible for his father's death. It's a race against the clock because his surrogate father, Lee Jin Pyo, also wants the same thing--but his ways are much more ruthless than Yoon Sung's.
With its thrilling action scenes and shocking plot twists, this drama had me riveted from start to finish. It's got a good mix of romance, suspense, and angst. I like dramas that make me think--but not to the point of brain breakage--and that's just what City Hunter gave me. If you're like me, you'll be on the edge of your seat until you get to the drama's ending!
