Who is Mr. Right For You?

Feb 5, 2009 by FN's Trixie Reyna

mr_right.jpgWhile browsing MarieClaire.com, the blurb for one of their main articles caught our attention: “Learn why so many women fall for the wrong man.” Who wouldn’t want to find out?

So we clicked on and found that the answer was really simple: because some women don’t know how to spot the right one. A lot of women fall for attractive men, while some are easily swept off their feet by overstated displays of affection and devotion—without stopping to think if their personalities are compatible. Sooner or later, when conflicts arise, they find it hard to cope given their unsuited personalities.

MarieClaire.com cited four personality types and which would work best for them, based on biological anthropologist and relationship guru Helen Fisher's book, Why Him? Why Her? Finding Real Love by Understanding Your Personality Type. In brief, here are the four types and best combinations.

Builder: Loves to stay in, calm, organized, and family-oriented, the Builder is best paired with a fellow builder.

Explorer: Creative, adventurous, and thrill-seeking, the Explorer has an unrivaled love for sex, making them belong with fellow explorers who share their spontaneity.

Negotiator: Friendly, expressive, and affectionate, Negotiators were “exposed to high levels of estrogen, the hormone associated with sensitivity and intuition,” and are thus best paired with analytical Directors for balance.

Director: Cunning, ambitious, and dedicated to work, Directors were “exposed to a high level of testosterone, the hormone associated with competitiveness and aggression.” Their best match are negotiators, who balance their reliance on intellect with emotions and provide them love and affection.
