Meet the gorgeous Younghusband

Sep 18, 2008 by FN's Trixie Reyna

philchat2_1.jpgWhat is it about Phil Younghusband that has young girls (and even young working women) swooning over this half-British, half-Filipino ex-Chelsea Football Club hunk?

Phil is now more popularly known as the youngest (and arguably the hottest) contender in GMA-7’s Celebrity Duets, slugging it out with the likes of Sec. Bayani Fernando, whom he considers his toughest competition. But he actually first burst into the Philippine scene when he played for Team RP in the 2005 SEAGames with brother James (he scored two goals in the 4-2 loss against Malaysia). The brothers arrived in the country just last April and have since been considered among the most sought-after bachelors in the metro, appearing in several spreads for magazines and broadsheets and even in advertisements.

Some MyFN members got to chat with Phil last Tuesday in FemaleNetwork’s chatroom. Yet let’s try to pick Phil’s brain some more, especially when it comes to what he loves about women; you just don’t know it, but you may actually be his type! Find out in the Q&A below with the 21-year-old Younghusband with an adorable British accent.

What makes you hot?
I don’t know what makes me hot. Maybe it’s more of my overall, I haven’t got a specific. The way I express myself—I like to socialize, I like to charm people, I like to make people happy, I’ll do anything to charm and make people happy. I like to use my sense of humor because I believe if you make someone smile, then, you’re sort of halfway there.

What types of girls would catch your attention?
I’m not too fancy with girls. I prefer girls with dark features rather than blond. I’m for brunettes, dark eyes, dark skin; but not too dark, not too light. Not too tall, not too small. Pretty much the general—somewhere in the middle (laughs). And at the end of the day, I believe in personality. And I love a girl’s smile. At the end of the day, it’s not too much of one thing, but it’s more of a little bit of everything.

What do you love about Filipino women?
I like the dark features. They’re all very friendly, very sociable. Unlike in England, there are a lot of girls that are hesitant to walk up to you and speak to you. But in the Philippines, if they want to speak to you, they’ll speak to you. So that’s what I like about Filipino women: you can have a good conversation with them.

What types of outfits do you think women should wear more often?
I’m not too fancy with anything. I wouldn’t say they should wear this style or that style; as long as they feel comfortable, or they can express themselves with what they’re wearing, if they’re happy, then I’m happy.

You can actually get a chance to win a date with Phil! Just vote for him on Celebrity Duets by texting duets Phil and sending it to 367 for Smart/TNT and 2344 for Globe/TM/Sun. The girl who can prove she has voted for him at least 500 times (by saving all text receipts sent each time you vote)—and more than everyone else—will win a date with Phil! Voting will be until Friday midnight, so start texting now. Email webmaster@femalenetwork.com the number of times you voted for Phil and be ready to prove it. Include your full name, mobile number, and email address. We’ll accept entries until Monday, 12NN, and announce the winner some time next week!
