Lea Salonga Spearheads Sex Myth Awareness Campaign on Twitter + 20 Sex Myths

Tony Award-winning theater actress and staunch pro-Reproductive Health Bill advocate Lea Salonga posted a Tweet on her Twitter account on May 23, encouraging people to send in myths they’ve heard about sex, contraception, and the like. “#proRHbill I wanna hear what myths you've heard about sex... put the hashtag #SexMyth and let's debunk away!” she Tweeted.

Her message spurred a deluge of Tweets from Filipino Twitter users who shared the sex myths they’ve heard over the years. By that afternoon and evening, the number of Tweets had made #SexMyth a trending topic in the Philippines. Trending happens when a large number of Twitter users post about a particular topic or use a word during a given period.
