10 rules of proper behavior for Facebook users

6. Do not post photos, videos, and comments about a recent failed relationship. It is in bad taste. When you need to rant, meet with a small group of trusted friends.

7. It’s fine to remain friends with someone you used to date on Facebook. Just brace yourself for status updates and photos that might bring you unnecessary anxiety.

8. It’s common courtesy to ask a close friend before adding her ex-boyfriend as a friend on Facebook.

9. If you must add friends of friends whom you’d like to meet or date on Facebook, do not forget to tell them you found them through the common friend’s page. Regardless, it’s suspicious (or strange) behavior to add someone you don’t know.

10. Make sure you and a partner agree on your relationship status before posting it on Facebook. As you all know, all your friends see status changes—the most conspicuous of all Facebook actions. You wouldn’t want your partner to be the last to know that you’ve actually broken up—or gotten engaged or something.
