Do you have a furry friend or two at home? Make sure you repay your dogs and cats for their companionship and love by providing them with the proper care they deserve.

The Pet Food Institute (PFI) and the Veterinary Practitioners Association (VPAP) teamed up to launch the "Well-Fed | Well Nurtured" campaign in June, which aims to teach Filipinos about proper care for their canine and feline friends.

According to VPAP, an estimated 9 million households in the country have at least one dog or cat. "Pets today have a significant place in the lives of Filipinos," says VPAP president Gabriel Paz. "As such, veterinarians have an important role to play, not just in the care of animals, but also in helping pet owners understand how pets should be cared for."

Are you a responsible pet owner? Scroll through the gallery below and find out what the pillars of responsible pet ownership are, according to PFI and VPAP.

I agree except for no.2. Can they explain to us what's a balanced diet and why do they only recommend commercial diets? does it mean that we should all agree that all commercial pet food are balanced? If you answered yes, then your dog's life is at stake. I also wonder what's the reason behind Pet Food Institute organizing this campaign, perhaps to advertise their products? If everyone will do their research, you will know the truth behind the pet food industry. And that's the no.6 pillar of RPO, doing our own research.
