CARAPartying for a cause—that’s what these pets and their humans did  at the Rockwell Tent on Saturday, June 30, at the Bow & Wow Benefit Dinner for CARA Welfare Philippines. Pet lovers from all over the metro and all walks of life were in attendance, with or without their fur babies. Among these were celebrities Janice de Belen, Regine Tolentino, Divine Lee, Victor Basa, Vanessa Matsunaga, and more. Congresswoman Bernadette Herrera-Dy, who is one of the legislators working on amendments to the Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines, also attended the event.

The charity event hosted by the vivacious Tessa Prieto-Valdez featured a bountiful buffet for pet lovers by Gaita Fores’s Cibo di M. While their humans were enchanted by the fashion show of designer pet beds and a performance by magician Lou Hilario, an equally abundant buffet by Bow & Wow, a pet dessert station by Swell Sweets, a pet grooming station, and a dog spa ensured that the pooches who attended were fed and pampered.

But all this indulgence was for a good cause—over half a million pesos was raised from the ticket proceeds and other generous donations. This will be used to support CARA’s various animal welfare projects, among these the rehabilitation of the 230 pit bulls rescued from a Laguna dog fighting operationearlier this year.

Karla Kangleon of CARA Welfare Philippines, shared the following via e-mail: “The gala event raised P450,000 on ticket sales and a generous donation of P100,000 from Bow & Wow, Healthy Options, and Wine Story…. The entirety of the funds raised will be allocated directly to animal care and the Laguna pit bulls.”

Check out the gallery below to see which pets partied the night away for this worthy cause—and the humans they brought along as their dates!
