Rep. Arroyo criticizes P-Noy's lack of leadership--do you agree?

pnoy_gloria_extra.jpgRep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former president of the Philippines, expressed her dismay over Pres. Noynoy Aquino's current leadership, saying that he has failed to follow up on the successes of her administration, SPOT.ph reports. She claims that the country's economy is in danger and that P-Noy has distinctly shown a lack of leadership skills since the Quirino Grandstand hostage crisis in August 2010.

According to ABS-CBNNews.com, the congresswoman said the country experienced a sustainable growth rate during her tenure. "I have sustainable growth rate, 10 years of uninterrupted growth. Even during global crisis, I left with 7.9-percent growth rate. I left with automated elections. Gains I built on gains of previous leaders because every administration should build on previous successes," she is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, she described Aquino's administration as having a "nobody's home" feel. "During my time, inflation rate was slowest among administration. Even the score of the Philippines in corruption is going up," she is quoted as saying. She also adds that while the country continues to benefit from her administration, the Philippines is still decelerating in comparison to other Asian countries.

Budget Secretary Florencio "Butch" Abad rebutted Arroyo's statements in another ABS-CBNNews.com article. "The first question that comes to mind is what gains? The people’s gains or her gains? Prudent expenditure took a back seat to political survival and political patronage during the previous administration."

"Nobody home? Of course! We’ve left the old neighborhood. We live in a new neighborhood now—where decency, transparency, and accountability reign," he is quoted as saying. He adds that the new administration struggled when Aquino went into office in June 2010. They had to make ends meet with only 40 percent of the budget remaining for the rest of 2010, as well as providing additional funds for the P2-million Calamity Fund already used up earlier that year.

Female Network wants to know what you think. Is former President Arroyo making the right assumptions, or do you think P-Noy's administration is doing its best? Take the poll, and share your opinions in a comment!

Poll Question:
Rep. Arroyo criticizes P-Noy's lack of leadership--do you agree?
  1. Yes, of course! What's the use of having a supposedly transparent government if the leadership is weak? I want to see tangible improvements, not just a crackdown on corruption.
  2. No way! How dare Arroyo talk like that, considering all the corruption that went on during her own administration? She should look at herself first before judging others.
  3. I think both Arroyo's and P-Noy's sides have valid points. I would definitely like to see more improvements in the current administration, but it's not like Arroyo's was doing any better.
  4. I think they're both wrong, and instead of being vocal about their opinions, both Arroyo and the current administration should just focus on doing what they should be doing for the country.
