Monsoon Rains Worse than Ondoy + How You Can Help

Here are some ways to help the victims of the recent rains brought by the southwest monsoon. By Marianne Salazar

The heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon left more than half of Metro Manila and nearby provinces flooded. The amount of rainfall the country experienced have surpassed the rain during the 2009 storm Ondoy  (International name Ketsana) at 472 mm in 22 hours, compared to Ondoy’s 455 mm. According to an Inquirer.net report, 90 municipalities in Ilocos, Calabarzon, Central Luzon and NCR were flooded, and at least 780,000 people were forced to evacuate from their homes due to the rising waters.

Due to the severe nature of this calamity, relief efforts are being organized nationwide and even abroad. Click through the gallery to see some of the ways you can help out.
