Man Divorces and Sues His Wife for Undergoing Plastic Surgery + Do you agree?

Should altering your looks be accepted as a reason to split from your spouse?

A Chinese man named Jian Feng divorced and sued his wife earlier this year because he felt that he had been tricked, as his wife underwent drastic cosmetic surgery procedures before she met Feng.

According to an article on Fox 31, Feng initially became suspicious after his wife gave birth to an “incredibly ugly” child who did not look like either of her parents. Feng initially accused his wife of cheating, but she later admitted to having spent $100,000 to have her features surgically altered before she met him.

Feng, who had absolutely no clue that his wife’s features were artificially engineered, then filed a lawsuit, saying that he had been persuaded to marry her “under false pretenses.” The presiding judge had agreed with Feng and ordered his wife to pay him $120,000.

Poll Question:

Do you agree with the judge’s verdict?

  1. Yes. Looks still matter in a relationship, even if we try to deny it. If she had disclosed her surgeries in the first place, she would never have gotten herself into this mess.
  2. No. That's a really shallow reason. If a man really loves a woman, he should be able to accept her for who she is, ugly past and all.
  3. I'm undecided. Both sides have sensible arguments.
