Fourteen-year-old Filipino-American Kirby Asunto delivered a a beautiful a capella version of the Philippine national anthem at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas before the Manny Pacquiao-Bradley fight commenced on June 10 (Manila time). The teen wore a red piña gown with terno sleeves by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino.
Interaksyon.com reports that Kirby is the niece of Pacquiao's cousin on his mother side. Pacman himself apparently asked her to perform at the match after hearing her sing at a mass held before his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2011.
The talented singer is by no means a newbie when it comes to performing. She has won several talent contests, including the regional and national levels of the Child Access Broadway competition, ABS-CBNNews.com reports. She has also sung at President Aquino's inaugural ball in 2010 and was the front act for Journey's Arnel Pineda in a concert in Atlantic City recently.
