womanity_awards_public_service2.jpgServing one's nation in an official capacity is not just an honor; it's also a huge responsibility. It requires good intentions, yes, but more importantly, it requires the planning and determination to see those sentiments through to as concrete and unilaterally beneficial action as possible.

The women who make up our list of finalists for the Public Service category of our first Womanity Awards are all familiar with this challenge--and they all have shown their determination to do what is right for the country given the tasks and responsibilities set before them.

Which of these public servants has aspired you to be more proudly Pinay? Vote by clicking on the banner below.

Risa Hontiveros also gives my vote because she's still very active in public service even she lost. For me, that's a true servant.

My vote is for SENATOR MIRIAM DEFENSOR-SANTIAGO. Undeniably, she is a living legend of the Philippines in the field of Law. She is indeed an epitome of women empowerment, academic excellence and courage. Hindi lang Brain si Miriam ng Senado, siya rin ay Red Blood Cells ng Senado. Kung wala siya, ang Senado ay Anemic.

Risa Hontiveros is the most deserving of them all. While others do public service for "photo-ops" and publicity, Risa has been the real public servant, whether in Congress and or in the parliament of the streets, she has been an icon for CHANGE. Together with the people, she has been tireless in waging a struggle for a better Philippines.
