Fashion is about more than just cut or material, color or functionality, as the Womanity Awards finalists for the Fashion category well know. They may be involved in the design and creation of stunning pieces of wearable art; or perhaps they work at the craft of making sure these pieces are displayed to the best advantage, perhaps matching separate items to have them come together for an organic whole.

And while some may call fashion frivolous, believing it to be about objectifying men and women or molding them to fit a cut-and-dried notion of beauty, these five finalists know better: it's about confidence and empowerment. They know that good fashion is more than just a question of what clothes to wear and what accessories to pair with them; they know good fashion is about having the right to show the world, "I am beautiful, outside and in."
