Love and obsession

May 15, 2008 by FN's Chamie Castillo

Love and obsessionDo you know if you have developed an unhealthy attachment to another person? Do you know when to draw the line between love and obsession? Where does love end and obsession start?

In recent news, Jack Jordan was found guilty for stalking the actress Uma Thurman. “I was overcome by a strong feeling of affection for her,” he testified. “To me it had sort of an esoteric feeling. It was unexplainable. I had never experienced that before in my life.”

Another report says that Mr. Jordan believed he was destined to be with the Kill Bill star and said his hands should be on her body “at all times”. He even told her parents he would kill himself unless he could see her.

Celebrity stalkers may seem like harmless nut cases on the evening newscasts, but in reality, obsessed fans can turn deadly. What’s more is that ordinary people are at risk as well.

You should know that you are already being stalked, if:

  • you are constantly being followed
  • you see them appear in your home or office
  • you receive harassing phone calls

Stalking can be very traumatic and cause emotional stress. Were you in any case in such situation? How were you able to deal with it?
