1.The Breakup Playlist and Begin Again
Music is the central theme of both these films, but that’s not the only thing it has in common. The premise of both films goes like this: Two people are brought together by their love for music. And while neither of the films are movie-musicals, there's a lot of singing involved. The male lead is a jaded, but more experienced member of the music industry, while the female lead is an innocent dreamer who only wishes to make music to be part of that world. And yeah, they eventually develop feelings for each other, make beautiful music together—and, well, you know the drill.

The Breakup Playlist (2015)–Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo

Begin Again (2014) – Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, and Adam Levine

2. Just The Way You Are and She’s All That

Popular asshole but very dreamy jock makes a bet with his best friend that he could make any girl fall in love with him in x number of days. The girl he chooses happens to be the most forgettable girl in school, but in the process she transforms (with the help of beauty and fashion experts) into a hot goddess, and ta-da they fall in love! Both female leads have daddy issues. The end.

Just The Way You Are (2015) – Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano

She’s All That (1999) – Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook

3.That Thing Called Tadhana and Before Sunrise

Both films start off with the leads in transit to a foreign land—one in an airport, the other in a train. The leads are two strangers, both lost in their own ways, who strike an unlikely friendship and find comfort in each other. The narrative of both films are strongly driven by the natural flow of their conversations—raw, uninhibited, flirtatious, and honest. But no, they don’t end up with each other—well, not explicitly.

That Thing Called Tadhana (2014) – Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman

Before Sunrise (1995) – Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy
