If you consider your pet dog or cat as a loyal and trusted companion and treat him as a part of your family, you surely want to give him the best care possible. Pampering your fury friend takes more than just dressing her up in a tutu or taking him along with you in a carrier. Finding the right vet (and groomer and trainer, too)  is equivalent to ensuring your pet’s health. That’s why it’s so important to find the perfect one.  Here, what you should consider when choosing service providers for your beloved pooches and kitties.

Look for recommendations
The best way to know about a place is to ask around. Get recommendations from your pet-loving pals. Ask if they’re satisfied with the grooming centers they go to. Inquire about their experiences at the vet you’re eyeing: Does he handle animals gently? Is the doctor easy to talk to? Is the staff well-trained and friendly towards pets? A happy customer will always be more than willing to give in a good word about an awesome service provider.

…But do your homework, too

Know the facts before heading to that doggy spa your third cousin recommended. Even if she says she always has a good experience with the grooming center, it’s still important for you to check their credentials and license to operate. This is also a good way to find out about the establishment’s operating hours (better if they are open 24/7 for emergencies), specialties, rates, and perks. Remember, choosing the right vet is a great investment for pet’s long-term health. And oh, did you know that veterinarians have different specialties, too? Learn more here

Ask the right questions

Once you’re done with your research, visit the place and talk to the service provider in person. This way, you can see for yourself if he’s the perfect match for your pet’s needs. This is also a great opportunity to check if the clinic or spa is clean, safe, and accessible. Dog-whisperer Cesar Millan says you should ask your pet’s new vet about his animal health philosophies and the credentials of the personnel who will be handling your furry friend.
