1. Wash your sheets.
Who doesn't love the smell and feel of freshly-laundered sheets? They don't just make for a tidier bedroom, but also keep dead skin, natural oils, and dirt from accumulating on your bed. Imagine yourself coming from shower and plopping down on dirty sheets—kinda yucky, right? Change pillowcases and beddings at least once a week.

2. Keep your clothes off the floor.
Dumping your dirty laundry in the hamper or packing away clean clothes in your closet as soon as they're ironed is the first step to maintaining a clean bedroom. When your floor is clear, you're less likely to mess it up because scattered clothes invite more mess. Your mantra: Fold them or hang 'em.

3. Allot at least 20 minutes a week to clear clutter.
Routinely tidying up tiny patches of disorder is so much better than cleaning up a big mess the whole day. Make it a habit to put little things away like earrings, shoes, and bags, or sweep the floors.

4. Keep everything in its own place.
Store items where they belong. Always check if there are items in your room that shouldn't be there like food, plates, and mugs.

5. Say goodbye to clutter.
Your bedroom is a sacred sanctuary, so clutter shouldn't be there. Control the number of items you have on flat surfaces—there shouldn't be more than three per surface area.
