We grew up knowing that refined sugar is bad for our health, especially when aiming to shed a few pounds. It’s highly recommended that you steer clear of the yumstuff, like donuts, cakes, ice creams, and candies, but the truth is, totally eliminating them from our lives can be challenging. And besides, it's been proven that giving in once in a while to your sweet tooth cravings can prevent you from bingeing.

Know that it’s normal.

If you've gotten used to having dessert, there’s a huge chance that your body will crave for it. Also, even dieticians and nutritionists crave for sugar, too! The key is to keep things under control—everything should be in moderation.

Practice portion control.

And since we’re in the topic of moderation, you can give in to that cheesecake as long as you aim for portion control. If you’re serious about losing weight, eat only half (or less) of the recommended serving size. Doing so simply satisfies your taste buds without packing on the extra calories and refined sugar.

Go for a healthier alternative.

Lucky us, there are nifty recipes we can follow to create guilt-free desserts. First up is ‘nice cream,’ which uses frozen bananas as a creamy base. Add tasty ingredients like coffee, peanut butter, or dark chocolate for a satisfying experience.

Alternatively, you can whip up baked goods that are good for your tummy, like gluten-free, protein-packed brownies, or baked granola bars.

Have some fruit.

A delightful sub for dessert would be a piece of fruit! Try freezing grapes for a crunchy bite packed with antioxidants, sliced apples with peanut butter, or a handful of berries. You can also make a *healthy* fruit salad by tossing sliced fruits with Greek yogurt!
