Watching what you drink is just as important as what you eat. Just because it’s in liquid form doesn’t make it any less fattening than a bar of chocolate. Choosing the right liquids can tweak your metabolism, curb your appetite, and reduce your total calorie count. Otherwise, they’re just empty calories. Be wary of these fattening drinks:

Soda
All that fizz is nothing but empty calories. Switching to a diet soda may decrease the calories, but it doesn't result in weight loss. Ditch the soda and chug a nice cold glass of water to quench your thirst.

Sugary Fruit Juices
Unless they are 100% fruit juice, steer clear of these sugary drinks. Though they contain more nutrients, some juices are just as fattening as sodas. Switch it up and try veggie juices instead. A cup of tomato juice has 41 calories, compared to 122 calories for orange juice.

Smoothies
Just because it's a fruit-based drink doesn't necessarily mean it's healthy. Skip the extra add-ons like syrup, ice cream, honey, cream, etc.

Energy Drinks
Avoid energy drinks by all means if you want to lose weight. These are certified calorie bombs because of the amount of sugar used in the mix. Water would be your best bet.

Fancy Coffee

Again, add-ons are to blame for the calorie spike. As delicious as whipped cream, syrups and sinkers are, they are not worth the extra fat. Allow yourself to indulge once in a while, but stick to black coffee or tea if all you need is a caffeine boost.
