There’s nothing wrong with showing a little love towards others–the world could use more love, TBH–but it’s important not to lose yourself in the process of giving either. After all, how can you expect other people to treat you well if you don't do so yourself? Once in a while, put yourself first, staring with these suggestions:
Be happy with who you are.
Don’t let other people’s opinion about you put you down. So what if you’ve got a few flaws here and there? Focus on the positive things people notice about you instead of dwelling on all the negativity. Our tip: write down at least 10 things about yourself–it’ll be easy and fun, and it'll definitely boost your self-esteem.
Go easy on yourself.
No one is perfect. You will make mistakes, people will take notice, and they’ll judge you for your faults–but don’t be too hard on yourself. Pema Chödrön, author of When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice For Difficult, says, "The most difficult times for many of us are the ones we give ourselves."
Spend quality time with yourself.
Go out of town or enjoy some peace and quiet at home while doing things you love. It’s a good way to recharge from all the toxicity you experience at work (or outside in general). Watch your all-time favorite movie or go to a spa salon to stretch, rejuvenate, and relax your body.
