Whether it's your kuya, mom, tita, or cousin, having a relative who works abroad can bring huge financial relief, but at the same time, it can also be an emotional roller coaster (imagine having to wish they were here instead of where they're based every night). Scroll down our list and see if you can relate to any of these #OFW situations.

The balikbayan box is always something to look forward to.
Aside from the overflowing imported chocolates, canned goods, and branded bags, you also have the latest designer clothes that aren't even available in the Philippines yet!

Other relatives always ask help from your family
…because you seem to be the ones who are more well-off. They also stay at your house often because your place is the biggest in the clan.

You've downloaded more than your fair share of messenger apps on your phone.
KakaoTalk, Viber, Skype, Snapchat, Line, Kik–you name it, at least one or two of these apps are on your phone for constant communication (and photo sharing) with your mom or dad abroad. Texting them is just too expensive.

It can be quite lonely.
You’ve learned to lean on your friends when your mom can't give you a comforting hug because she’s miles away. #MissingMom

Christmas and New Year's are the best holidays. EVER.
If one of your parents is abroad making a living, you treasure every special holiday either spends in the Philippines because it’s the only chance the family becomes complete.

You have tons of used international call cards at home.
You're always calculating how much credit you have left in your card. "O, six minutes na lang yung call card ko."

You family throws a grand celebration when an OFW arrives
...and where the whole angkan is waiting at the airport.

Time zones, period.
Either one of you stays up late, or one of you wakes up super duper early. The result? Both of you end up feeling groggy and looking hagardo versoza the next day.

You're often seen hanging out at Western Union and LBC.
