Yoga Retreats in November

Oct 16, 2009

Yoga enthusiasts get to choose between two major events on the last weekend of November: will it be hot and active or cool and calming? While the FLOW Surf.Yoga.Samba weekend and the Body Temple Yoga Retreat are both options for yoga practitioners in the country and will take place concurrently, each has distinct features to offer.

The FLOW Surf.Yoga.Samba Weekend Retreat swings toward the more active end of the spectrum, offering not only yoga, but surfing and samba lessons as well. The retreat aims to unify the body, mind, and soul with activities targeted for the whole individual: yoga to help develop focus, strength, and flexibility, surfing to develop confidence, stamina, and ocean awareness, and dancing and creating music to enhance one’s sense of well-being and to build one’s social skills. The three-day retreat will be held from November 28 to 30 at the San Juan Surf Resort in La Union. Rates are at P6,500 per person, which includes two Vinyasa yoga sessions by Monica Eleazar-Manzano, two surfing lessongs with Luke Landrigan of the Billabong San Juan Surf School, and two samba lessons and Brazilian batuccada samba drumming, led by Escola de Samba de Manila. Also included are roundtrip private transfers, accommodations, vegetarian meals and snacks, and event t-shirts and freebies from sponsors.

The retreat, pioneered by popular yogini Teresa Herrera, involves four days and three nights of yoga, dance, body treatments, and healthy cuisine. The package includes single, double, or triple occupancy villas, sunrise meditation, daily Prana Vinyasa Flow yoga with Teresa Herrera, sunset dialogues journal writing, yoga trance dance, complete healthy meals, and a guided tour of The Farm, an award-winning 48-hectare resort that offers an exceptional healing environment to rejuvenate the mind, restore the body, and awaken the spirit. Package rates are at P41,000/person for single occupancy villas, P27,000 for double occupancy, and P22,000 for triple occupancy.
