Who is your role model?

Who is the one person you look up to? FN wants to know! By Marianne Salazar

No one can underestimate the importance of having a role model. After all, it's important to have somebody who serves as your inspiration to push hard and to reach for your dreams.  And during calamities, like the grave floods we’re experiencing at the moment, they’re the ones who can inspire us to make a change in our communities.

We’ve all had at least one role model at one point or another in our lives. That person doesn't necessarily have to be famous, rich, or extremely successful. Your mom could be your role model when it comes to family matters. The president of the company you work for may be your inspiration to reach for the top. Your role model could be a Hollywood actress, an Olympian, a successful entrepreneur, or even a great teacher you had. Maybe it's an ordinary person who was featured on the news because she risked her life to save others. Even a fictional character, such as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series, could be a great role model!

Whoever your role model is, it’s very important to choose her well. Don’t just idolize someone because she dresses well or has a hot boyfriend. Let her inspire you, but don’t lose your individuality by forcing yourself to become a carbon copy of your idol. Keep in mind that you also have the potential to be a role model for others!
