A recent study supports our belief that a kiss can do wonders for our health.
Kissing makes our body release stress-relieving chemicals, according to research done by psychologist Wendy L. Hill and her student Carey A. Wilson of Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, USA.
Kissing boosts oxytocin, which influences social recognition, orgasm, and childbirth, just as it lowers cortisol, a hormone associated with stress that increases blood pressure and blood sugar.
Findings showed that cortisol levels dropped for both sexes when engaged in any form of intimacy. However, oxytocin levels rose higher in males than females, possibly because males expect sex to follow after kissing, says Hill. Researchers supposed that more stimulation, such as a romantic atmosphere, will allow women to get more emotional high from kissing. \Men tend to pass testosterones through their saliva, which can increase the sex drive of both sexes.
The next time you feel stressed, you now know one of the easiest ways to relieve yourself—provided you have someone to kiss.
