Choose multivitamins that suit your needs

May 30, 2009 by FN's Shar Bareng

oneaday.jpgThere may be enough multivitamins to choose from these days, but you just can't take one out of the rack without considering your needs first.

Research showed that all adults need multivitamins—but not just any multivitamin. Sophia Cariati of iVillage.com advises everyone to consult their doctors first to determine the effectiveness of certain vitamins, especially those who take other medications.

Most brands emphasize doses of several vitamins or minerals in their multivitamins based on health issues they intend to prevent. Vitamin D, for example, may be significantly higher in multivitamins for women after studies showed that it lessens risks of breast cancer.

If you're determined to protect yourself against breast cancer, look for a multivitamin that contains appropriate levels of Vitamin D. Bayer's One-A-Day Women's Multivitamins (P397.50) aids in providing the suggested daily consumption of 1,000 IU of Vitamin D associated with support of breast health.

One-A-Day Women's Multivitamins offers twice as much calcium as other multivitamin brands to strengthen bones. It also contains antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, and E to help women maintain healthy skin.

One-A-Day Women's extended their reach toward breast cancer patients even further by supporting Project Pink Cancer Support Group's Pink Ribbon Advocacy Bag sale. Through the initiative, One-A-Day Women's Multivitamins pledged 25 percent of proceeds for each bag to Project Pink.

One-A-Day Women's Multivitamins is available in all leading drug stores nationwide.
