Beyonce prefers gaining weight to losing some

Oct 28, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

beyonce_skinny.jpgOne of the reasons we love Beyonce Knowles is how she's proud of being curvy, unlike the rest of Hollywood that aspire for size zero.

Reportedly, the only time she purposefully lost weight was when she had to look older for her role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls. She shed 20 lbs, supposedly surviving on a diet of only water and cayenne pepper. She eventually gained weight when production for the film wrapped up, and with her role as singer Etta James in the upcoming film Cadillac Records, Beyonce is even happier to put on more pounds.

"I gained almost 15 pounds to play the role," she told In Style magazine. “It was way easier--and tastier--than having to lose so much weight for Dreamgirls."

It only makes sense, since Beyonce is known more for being “bootylicious,” and even celebrated that fact with a very popular Destiny's Child single. "It's a celebration of curves and a woman's natural body. I don't believe in being skinny," she said about "Bootylicious" back in 2006.
