An Ounce of Prevention: Vaccines You Should Consider Getting as an Adult

Immunization is important for adults because it can prevent the onset of many infectious diseases. By Angela G. Sison-Aguilar, MD

Immunization is no longer for babies and small children. Many infectious diseases can now be avoided using vaccines for adults. Our natural immunity fades over time—especially in the elderly, who are more susceptible to infections like the flu and pneumococcal disease.

There's a host of vaccines available for adults today, but which one should you be asking about? The US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention have come up with specific recommendations. Learn about them via the gallery below.
