Most of us can't help but panic as the big day approaches, hence the pre-wedding crisis, the impulses to do something wild before tying the knot, and even considering calling the whole thing off. Wedding-related panic reminds me most of The Last Kiss (2006), the American remake of the Italian film L'ultimo bacio starring Zach Braff, Rachel Bilson, and Jacinda Barrett.

Zach Braff is Michael, who at 30 seems to be living a good life: He has terrific friends, a great job, and a wonderful girlfriend, Jenna (Barrett). But things start to go downhill after he gets engaged to Jenna, who is pregnant with his child, as he starts to wonder whether there's more to life than the road for him that he feels is too planned. In comes Kim (Bilson), an intriguing younger girl he meets at a party, and who gives him the thrill he's looking for.
But after Jenna kicks him out of their house when she finds out that he's been cheating on her, Michael realizes that it's his fiancee he loves and decides to end things with Kim once and for all. Unfortunately, Jenna finds it too hard to forgive him, prompting him to find ways to mend their relationship.
At times, The Last Kiss felt a bit preachy, but it's a film I don't mind picking up lessons from, especially since it's injected with good humor. The bigger message, of course, is how frustrating it can be to mess up something that you don't want to mess up after all--and ultimately, learning how to pick up the pieces afterwards. It's not just about relationships, either, but a lot of life's aspects in general. After all, everyone has doubts sometimes, and some people are still willing to pay for what they've done wrong.
