On peace-making stars and missing ones

Oct 21, 2008 by Dinno Erece, entertainment correspondent

ST_13_Joey_De_Leon_002.jpgPeacetime. Reconciliation is the buzz word in showbiz this week. Former warring factions are kissing and making up, and our malicious mind is in high gear, trying to find the real reason for peace abounding these days.

Colleagues John “Sweet” Lapus and Jobert Sucaldito first buried the hatchet at another colleague’s birthday party, followed by Joey de Leon and Willie Revillame when they both received a fun-time award from a broadsheet lifestyle division. Since it always comes in threes, warring manager-and-talent Alfie Lorenzo and Judy Ann Santos also made peace last Saturday, when Judai visited Alfie’s residence at Panay Avenue to apologize.

I read in Jobert’s column, too, that he is planning to make peace with Kris Aquino. That makes four truces in the span of a month.

And people say showbiz is a place of war.

Where in the world is Riza Santos? If we are to believe our sources, Riza is definitely not in Canada to which she said she was returning when she left the country in a huff after two successive ‘snubbing’ incidents: one by Starstruck’s female alumni during an FHM event, and the other by one of her co-stars in the ABS-CBN soap I Love Betty La Fea. Riza was sighted in Makati and Mandaluyong in several instances, which means she’s certainly not in Canada. The farthest sighting happened in Macau. What is she doing here and there—hiding? Oops.

Check out Q-11’s lifestyle show, Living It Up, and you’ll notice the newest addition to its lineup of hosts, which includes Raymond Gutierrez, Issa Litton, Sam Oh and Tim Yap: it’s Greggy Santos, the show’s resident music segment authority.

Greggy is a senior college student in Ateneo de Manila. His passion for music extended to his forming a band of his own years ago. The 21-year-old golf varsity player for his school emerged the winner in another Q-11 show, Hired, which hosted a search for Q’s own video jock. Is he ready to join showbiz? The smile he gave in response to this question said it all.

Blindly.
This star-struck young princess has been seen crying a lot lately. Her former partner made her cry once. Her manager, who is not known for subtlety purposes, admitted to this writer that she made her ward cry at least twice. Now, we heard that during the story conference for her latest show in her home station, she cried while the show’s plot was being told! It’s either she’s so touchy nowadays, or there is some truth to the rumor that something went on between her and a former partner.
