As of the last count in the local Gossip Girl poll, 75 per cent said that they couldn't imagine watching a local version, 16 per cent said they'd give it a chance, while 6 percent might take a peek if their favorite actors were in it. The official launch of TV 5, however, confirmed that there was no stopping Lipgloss, the loose local adaptation of the hit TV series, which premiered in the re-launched channel last Saturday.

Contrary to earlier rumors, the cast of Lipgloss are actually younger. Sam Concepcion plays Kyle, moderator of the website "Lipgloss," which revolves around the lives of students in Reedley International School, while new talent Kevin Lapena is the main male lead, Edge. Star Magic's Rodjun Cruz plays main antagonist Jake, while Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 1 Housemates Fred Payawan and Mikee Lee play Jake's younger brother Jiggo and bad boy Maui, respectively.
Saab Magalona's Meg and Maxine Eigenmann's Abby are undoubtedly Lipgloss' version of Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. Cheska Ortega, from the local production of High School Musical, plays Ziggy, Edge’s younger sister. Charina Suzara is wannabe rich girl Julivee, while Mary Grace Perido is the loner skating champ Louise. Completing the girl group is Star Magic talent Miki Hahn, who plays the bad girl Steph.
Is Lipgloss something you'd like to check out, so far? If you happened to watch the series' first episode, what can you say about it?
