If you're a fan of Love, Actually and Paris, Je T’aime, you can look forward to America's take of the romantic comedy film anthology with the upcoming film New York, I Love You. Based on the Paris project in 2006, New York, I Love You sees the collaboration of Hollywood stars and filmmakers in a series of love stories that eventually meet at one point a la Love, Actually.

And just like Paris, the film shorts for New York will be directed by the biggest names in Tinseltown. The producers of the project have recently filled Variety in on the stars who will be working on the project, among them Orlando Bloom, Kevin Bacon, Chris Cooper, Maggie Q, Olivia Thirlby, Hayden Christensen, and Ethan Hawke. There will also be appearances by Rachel Bilson, Robin Wright-Penn, Shia LaBeouf, and more! This film will also mark the directorial debut of Scarlett Johansson, who recently played Mary Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl, while her screen-sister Natalie Portman will star in one of the shorts.
Variety also gives us the scoop on who the directors will be. So far, there's Mira Nair, Brett Ratner, Alan Hughes, Fatih Akin, Andrey Zvyagintsev and Wen Jiang. Sadly, though, there'll be nothing from Woody Allen, whom Variety reports as “having nothing to do with the project,” a shame since Woody is known for his love affair with New York (there’s still nothing like his Annie Hall and Manhattan, his iconic valentine for the city).
As in the title, this rom-com is not only about love stories in a city, it’s also about falling in love with New York. And because we're such suckers for rom-coms (no matter where it happens), we are definitely looking forward to this film--especially since Paris, Je T'aime, which was one of the feature films in the Cinemanila Film Festival last year, didn't disappoint. We're hoping this one would be as good, too.
