Nancy Jane talks about her new album

Apr 14, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

nancyjane.jpgWe got to talk to Nancy Jane Castiglione during the IP E-Games Domination II which she hosted last week with Tado and Ramon Bautista at the SMX Convention  Center. She also launched her album, Nancy Jane, at the IP E-Games.

So, if you were wondering where Nancy has been for a year, this album is the answer. Nancy Jane, which contains mostly house-electronica songs, was launched formally at the Embassy last week, where the DJs also played some of the tracks! "The crowd at NBC really liked it, they were grooving to it, and they didn't even know it was me when the DJs mixed it," she said. Here’s a trivia: former Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco also wrote one of the tracks in the album, "Control."

This shouldn't come as a surprise since Nancy told us she's actually been singing since she was nine, when she was doing theater at school. But making the album is a complete learning experience, Nancy says. "It's actually strange to sing directly to a mic. In stage, you're using all your powers to reach the crowd...in a studio, being close to a mic is something new to me as a singer," she said.

Here's the tracklist of Nancy Jane:

  1. Deep Inside You
  2. Love Song
  3. Control (Blanco Mix)
  4. Moonlight Mood
  5. Hold You Close
  6. Rock It
  7. When You Play Around
  8. My Perfect Diet
  9. (Driving Around) So Good Together
  10. Attraction/Connection
  11. Without You
  12. Control (Leon Chaplain Mix)
Two of her songs, "Love Song" (her album's carrier single) and "Deep Inside You" even made it to the game "Audition," a multiplayer online dance and music game where players can sing and dance to their favorite OPM songs.

She's also flattered to be compared to Kylie Minogue--an honor since, as far as we know, the house-electronica genre is quite new to the local music scene and there's nobody else who've done what Nancy has managed to do. "She's one of my influences, and just the fact that I'm fortunate enough to entertain people through singing, modeling, and acting, already makes me very happy! It's humbling and exciting," she said.
