MTV Movie Awards: Who took home the Golden Popcorn?

Jun 4, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

Hollywood has too much awards to give away, and MTV's awards have got to be the most outrageous of all. Where else can you get awards for Best Kiss and Best Fight? And who wouldn't love to receive a Golden Popcorn? Here's a rundown of the winners this year.

Best Female Performance: Ellen Page for Juno
Best Fight:
Sean Faris vs. Cam Gigandet for Never Back Down
Best Summer Movie So Far:
Iron Man
Best Male Performance:
Will Smith for I Am Legend
Best Comedic Performance:
Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
MTV Generation Award Winner:
Adam Sandler
Breakthrough Performance:
Zac Efron for Hairspray
Best Villain:
Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Best Kiss:
Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman for Step Up 2: The Streets
Best Movie:
Transformers
Best Movie Spoof:
Juno: Teen Pregnancy Redux

And of course, there was the equally hilarious awards night, hosted this year by Mike Myers, complete with a shameless promotion of The Love Guru. I honestly found almost every segment funny, although if there was a Best Presenter Award, I would have given it to Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey, Jr. for bringing the house down, complete with a special "The Greatest Actor of All Time" announcement for Robert. Or maybe Ellen Page and Jason Bateman can go for Best Almost Kiss, even.

The big winner of the night, no doubt, was Johnny Depp, who took home two awards for Sweeney Todd and Pirates. Then again, we're not really surprised!

Did you enjoy this year's MTV Movie Awards? And which part of the show was your favorite? If you missed the show, MTV even has the whole of it on streaming video at their official site.
