Entertainment on a budget

Aug 20, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

There are days when we don't even have the dough to spare for a movie, and sometimes we fail to see our favorite bands perform live in the country because of expensive tickets. In such cases, how would you keep yourself entertained when your budget won't permit your usual brand of entertainment? Here are some tips we came up with to help tide you over on days when you have to scrimp a little.

  1. Scour your video collection and re-discover old movies you own. How about indulging on guilty pleasures like chic flicks, pre-Pixar Disney animated films, or Tagalog flicks? If you're into marathons, borrow DVDs of TV series that you've missed from friends!
  2. Load your iPod with songs by your favorite artists and go on a music trip. If you want a concert-like vibe, plug your player into a speaker or play concert videos so you can rock on in the comfort of your living room.
  3. Hang out in a friend's house for DVD marathons or video game tournaments! One discovery we've had recently is Rock Band, a video game where three to four people can play lead and bass guitars, drums, and even sing their favorite alternative songs. This is certainly more fun than staying at home alone. Why not turn it into an impromptu party, too?
  4. Go video-surfing in Youtube. We're pretty sure you won't notice the time pass by!
  5. Plug in your Magic Sing if you have one and invite friends over for videoke night!

Which of these are you most likely to do if you can't go out for entertainment?
