A different Katrina Halili in GMA-7's OBRA?

Aug 13, 2008 by FN's Trixie Reyna

KatrinaHalili_main.jpgYou may think you’ve seen everything Katrina Halili can do as an actress. Yet her home network, GMA-7 believes there’s more to Katrina than being a sexy femme fatale. Just as they believe there is more to primetime TV programming than your typical telenovelas (which they do have a lot of already).

It’s about time the Kapuso Network brought more depth to primetime TV and to Katrina Halili’s acting prowess, which they hope to do with their newest primetime drama series, OBRA, premiering tomorrow night. What they call their “exceptional TV masterpiece” showcases their most popular stars in four remarkable stories about life, love, and sacrifice, airing every Thursday night.

They kick off the series with Katrina stepping up from being a sultry villain to claiming center stage as she plays unconventional lead roles in four OBRA episodes.

OBRA also brings together the country’s first-rate production teams and multi-awarded directors to hopefully elevate the quality of local TV drama. They guarantee that each episode has the makings of a masterpiece: all are well-written, expertly-directed, and convincingly-portrayed.

Directing Katrina in OBRA are four critically-acclaimed directors: Joel Lamangan, Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Bibeth Orteza, and Jun Lana—each with their own production teams.

Will OBRA prove to be a real TV masterpiece—and will Katrina shine in a different light? Only one way to find out: catch the show tomorrow night after the Korean series Dalja’s Spring on GMA-7. Then tell us what you think.
