Victim of fire incident In a hotel

My family and I were checked in in this hotel when suddenly a fire broke out in one of the floors where we were staying, to cut the story short, we have 2 minor who witnessed it and got traumatized by the whole scenario of stopping the fire and running out from the hotel, my in-laws and cousin were rushed to the hospital since they had difficulty breathing coz of the smoke, luckily everyone was safe but it had caused us much physical and emotional stress, and trauma especially to the children who kept on asking if we were already going to die then....so we were thinking of demanding claims against the hotel because of what their negligence has caused us

Any suggestions or insights on this case? Do we really a right on this matter? Thanks
