Disaster Management Seminar

A couple of my friends in Manila would meet from time to time. They would discuss Disaster Management and Disaster Preparedness. And in one of my quick stops to Manila, i was able to attend one of their seminars for free.

My friends are very adept in First Aid, Search and Rescue, Self Defense/Military Combatives/, Mountaineering, Camping, Survival and anything that has to do with mother nature.

They were able to condense all their years of experience into one power point presentation but it took the whole day to tackle the it.

First Aid Kits, Go Bags, survival kits, emergency communications, food storage, everything was tackled.

so i was wondering, how many of us here in GT are prepared for a disaster? what measures have you taken to protect you and your family?

mayroon ba dito willing mag attend?

pero siyempre iisipin din ang venue, time and date.

sana libre din ang venue else mahirap ishoulder personally ng Expert.

what i meant by "reasonable fee" eh yung tipong kunwari 150 pesos or something di ba? para lang ma cover yung venue or something...

kaya niyo ba mag hatak ng attendees? siguro kung 30-40 people baka pumayag siya.

kaya ko lang tinatanong to kasi hindi ako nakatira sa Pilipinas.

pero i was able to attend his seminar when i dropped by Manila early this year. and it was good.

hay, we need to fix our flooring, kasi kahit tapos na baha sa labas e, mukhang me water fountain kami inside the house, water seeps in. buti na lang nung time pa ni Gener na-fix na [textspeak!] LEAK sa roof, wag lang Milenyo at mawawalan ulit kami ng roof. Old house kasi.

the seminar leader is first and foremost a medical doctor. He is also adept with Search and Rescue, an expert outdoorsman and a very good self defense instructor. ang biro nga namin sa kanya eh, "Rambo" lol.

Nagtuturo din siya ng Wilderness Rescue and EMS.

ang masasabi ko lang, when you get to talk about these stuff with this guy, time will be your enemy.

noong nag attend ako ng seminar niya last january, mga bumbero at paramedic ang mga nakasama ko. ako yung sore thumb.

things to think about muna,

*iilan here ang gustong mag-attend?

*sino sa inyo ang magiging contact person niya?

if medyo marami rami, like 10 people above, kailangan talaga ng place.

pero kung mga 3-5 lang, siguro baka pwedeng long lunch, tipong X amount of hours kayo sa table. (i will ask him about this.)

or a big table of 10 somewhere? LOL

pero trust me sis, sa haba ng usapan, it can take the whole afternoon.

kung 25 pax pwede na sa function room ng isang affordable resto like max, aristocrat, Jollibee  o kaya mcdo. ang importante yung matututunan natin from the speaker 

ano, game ba mga sis sa venue like this?
pwede ko iorganize ito 

siguro 200-250 pesos plus token of appreciation sa speaker kung libre ang service nya hehe

I don't mind piggy 619,  kung boto ba ang majority eh.

first thing to do is magkaroon ng organizer

once meron naka pag agree na kayo kung sino mag oorganize, i will inform my friend para pwede nang mag coordinate between  him and the Organizer.

then you guys can set the date, location etc.



also, all will have to agree on the amount, zero amount po ba or a small contribution--just to make this seminar happen. (also, it pays to have something to drink or nibble during the seminar.)

space isn't free unless some has "space" and will be willing to have it used for free. the location of the "free space" may also be limiting. (i.e hard to access) and you guys might opt otherwise.

so each might have to give a small contribution for the seminar to happen at a location that will be convenient for everyone.

hence i used the words "reasonably priced" in one of my previous posts.

The knowledge to be imparted may be of big help to you and your loved ones so i don't see why it would not be hard to give say, 100 bucks per person, to make this thing happen. what's 250 pesos for a life saving idea anyway?

besides, if ever sumobra, you can always opt to donate the amount.

as long as everything is transparent, i don't think there should be any problem.

opinion ko lang, mag seminar na habang fresh pa sa memory natin ang mga nangyari, para ma tackle in detail yung mga needs ninyo. so pag nag subside na ang lahat at na stabilize then yun.

and kung may huge demand pa later from GT, maybe we can request the speaker to conduct another one.
