US TV: Happy Endings
« on: February 12, 2012, 01:15:08 pm »
I did a search and found no thread of Happy Endings yet. That's so not right!  >:(  ;D

Happy Endings is the closest show to Friends!!! And we know there have been plenty of shows that came and were billed as "the next Friends" but didn't deliver. Well, this (Happy Endings) actually fits the description. It IS the next Friends.

And since a lot of Girltalkers are Friends fans (or at least that ones I used to see around in these boards before), you will most likely love this new show.

The series is already on its second season and it's really fun and entertaining. I've gone through the first season more than 3 times already and I watch every episode of the second season more than once each week.

Who's watching this show? And if you aren't watching.....WHY? ???

The next Friends, yes! ---- http://leoisnothavingit.tumblr.com/post/17303037151/just-give-them-all-the-emmys-now

Their Valentine episode this week had me laughing so hard.

This show airs on ABC, Wednesdays in the US. And it's also on Star World (Philippines).

Yay!  ;D

There were three series last year that were Friends wannabe: Happy Endings, Friends With Benefits and I forgot the other one...Perfect Couple ata, ewan na. Happy Endings lang yung tumagal (so far), the rest were cut after six episodes.

But I do hope the show gets its own identity and not forever be tagged as Friends-like. Coz it really deserves its own place.  However, I guess I'm forever on a Friends-high coz while I'm watching, I can't help but make comparisons. But it's all good kasi I end up loving Happy Endings more and more.  ;D

The one collective complaint I usually hear is that they talk so fast, ang hirap intindihin. Which I kind of agree with rin. They do eat their words kaya minsan the joke or punchline doesn't get picked up by the viewer. Napanood ko na kasi ng ilang beses mga episodes lahat, kaya the fast-talk doesn't bother me anymore. Maybe re-watching helped me rin. Do try watching again. And follow the correct episode order, mali yung pinalabas sa Season 1, jumbled. You can check the correct episode order here dun sa Episode # versus the Prod #. Prod # is the right one.

Another thing I like about this series is the actors do improv! That makes them effective comedians, in my opinion.

^I agree! They improve, they're getting better and adapted to their characters.  Mga first few episodes ng season 1, I had the same reaction as Heatherette's.  But I never gave up on them- pagdating ng Season 2, ganda na!

Happy Endings is the second highly rated comedy show on ABC. Modern Family is the first. ;)

And if you need to watch just one episode to check it out, pick the Valentine's day episode which aired this week, to convince you - Season 2 Episode 13 - St. Valentine's Day Maxssacre. I've watched it a total of four times already. ;D

^ same here. jane and brad and penny of course. i love them all. but those 3 are tied for me, for the top spot. I LOVE JANE. she's like monica (friends) but much much more lovable. ahaha ayoko kasi si monica minsan eh.

i'm sad they went on their break na. i'm not watching don't trust the b in apt. 23, as a protest nyaha. i want happy endings! sobrang kulit. it has become the highlight of my comedy wednesdays.

may isa pang sitcom na walang thread ata-the middle. sadness.

^haha protest talaga!!! Apt 23 had a good pilot. Pero okay na lang yung 2nd episode. I dunno how old the joke about Dawson's Creek is going to get. James Van Der Beek kasi plays himself diba?

Was actually going through the last 2 episodes of Happy Endings last night, before I slept. Saya! ;D

Tuwang tuwa rin ako sa The Middle!!! So good yung cast!

I love this show, can't wait for the next season.

My least liked characters are:
2. Dave - parang ang lame nyang guy

P.S. I can't BELIEVE hindi ito sikat sa GT! This is one of the shows na nakakapagpasakit sa tiyan ko sa kakatawa.

Itatapat yung Happy Endings with New Girl next season (Fall 2012)...which is funny because, diba si Damon Wayans, Jr. (BRAD), he left New Girl for this show? Ano kaya ang mas magre-rate?

New Girl will be on its 2nd Season by then, Happy Endings, 3rd Season. But they both started the same year with production of their very first episodes (hence Damon Wayans' dilemma)...nauna lang nga nag-air Happy Endings by almost a year.

Parang hindi sila magkatapat.

Magkaibang series sila e. :p

So different audience?

What I meant was Happy Endings is moving to a Tuesday time-slot next season, which happens to go head to head with New Girl.

Good luck sa new girl.

LOL!!! Sinto-sinto. The show itself, wala pang identity.

How will you manage over there, @mooncake and leaves?? LOL!!!

Pareho yung age range nung characters sa 2 shows na yun right? Around the same age ako e. At mas nakaka-relate ako sa Happy Endings. Haha.

I will try this show. This season I am only watching 2 shows, House and Modern Family. Since House ended, I need a new show to watch.
