Hi! I've been a long time patient of Doc. Novero, one of the first here in GT if I'm not mistaken. Let me share my story again (I've posted it here in GT a couple times before, kaya lang wala na yung old threads).
I was diagnosed with bilateral PCOS and stage 2 Endometriosis in 1998. Prior to Dr. Novero, I've been to 3 other doctors and underwent several treatment/work-ups (laparoscopy, HSG, numerous IUIs, 2 failed IVFs), even had a severe OHSS wherein I almost lost my life. By that time, we've been trying for almost 7 years. You could just imagine the heartbreaks we've been thru. I mean other than my PCOS and Emdometriosis, nobody could say what's wrong or why I'm not getting pregnant. One of my previous OBs even said that I had super healthy cervix (matres, her exact word). We're losing hope, and already contemplating other countries for the treatments but syempre by that time medyo low budget na rin kami and the emotional toll was already too much. So we took a little break.
Then the Singaporean Embryologist we befriended in Victory ART lab, recommended Dr. Novero. Four doctors actually yung namentioned niya, but after much discussion we decided to go to Dr. Novero. He was relatively new or still building up his name in the field. When we consulted him, he just studied my history, asked me to have a complete blood test then work up na agad. We went into it not really very optimistic, all the symptoms were not there, we thought failed na naman. That was already our last shot, but it turn out to be positive. Just imagine our shock!
My pregnancy was problem-free, and we stayed with Dr. Novero all through out. Kasi may option ka lumipat after the 1st trimester. But we stayed and gave birth in Feb. 2006 at TMC.
We later found out that thru ICSI-IVF lang pala talaga kami pwedeng magkababy kasi it turn out that my husband's sperm couldn't penetrate my egg cell unless injected in (which is the ICSI-IVF nga), so useless yung numerous IUIs. Thats why its recommended that upto 4 IUIs lang dapat before starting to explore other options. Then my very first IVF (thru another OB) positive na pala dapat yun kaya lang due to my severe OHSS, nawala yung embryo. Blessing na rin siguro, kasi if natuloy yun, I'm sure madaming problems yung pregnancy or the baby itself, kasi grabe yung mga meds ko nun, just to bring me back.
Now I've always responded well with Gonal-F, even with my prior doctors, so we had a lot of frozen embryos left at Victory. After a year we decided to have another child again, we were planning to use our frozen embryos, but again I responded too well with the meds, super daming egg cell but di nagthicken yung cervical walls ko. So dapat cancelled na yung FET but then sayang naman yung nagastos na and the numerous egg cells na nagmature. After much discussions, ayun fresh cycle of IVF again. Akala namin di na successful since late na and at first ayaw nga kumapal yung cervical lining ko. But then we were blessed with twins this time. Again problem free pregnancy and still with Dr. Novero.
So now 3 kids na kami bigla, magulo, nakakapagod but super saya. Imagine after waiting 8 years ito na sila. But at the back of our minds, naiisip pa rin namin yung frozen embryos. Kasi madami pa naiwan namin and we don't know what to do with them. We couldn't in our conscience just abandon/discard them. It just felt morally wrong. So again after discussing with Dr. Novero (and much prayers), we underwent an FET but this time with less stimulation na, we want it to be as natural as possible. But God really works in mysterious ways, we were again blessed with twins!!
So here we are with 5 children, a 6 years old daughter, almost 4 years old twins (boy & girl) and 10 months old twin boys. All under Dr. Novero.
Sa gastos, mahal talaga before umabot kami sa almost P600k pero hanggang CS na yun. I believe mas cheaper na ngayon especially sa St. Luke's Global. Kasi yan talaga goal nila Dr. Novero when he mentioned before about the plan to put up an infertility lab in St.Luke's. They want to help as many couples as possible and syempre para competitive din with other countries like Taiwan.
Preparation-wise I really didn't do much, just maintained a healthy diet and exercise. At that time, I was just following the South Beach diet and doing Pilates too. I didn't undergo any immunological test/treatment na kasi di naman daw kailangan especially if never pa napregnant nor had any miscarriage (not considered daw yng failed IVF ko coz due to OHSS naman yun). I believe that accupunture would really help kasi we've heard of many successful stories na usually may accupunture involved, even Dr. Novero is sort of a believer of this.
I hope my looooong post would somehow help you in your journey. My advise to you is to just be strong and keep the faith. Important din to be in tune with doctors, meaning madali and malinaw communications niyo. Very approachable naman si Doc and answers all your questions kaya dapat sulitin niyo yung bawat punta niyo, para di sayang ang P1k na doctor's fee.

Madami din kaming patients ni Doc dito at may mas amazing and inspiring stories pa than me. Kaya lang baka busy moms na rin so di na masyadong makapagGT. I always visit the threads here naman, I'll try to answer some of your queries the best I can. Good luck and stay healthy! Baby dust to all!
