Sorry pero a lot of parents nalilito pa rin sa K+12 system until now.
Correct me if Im wrong ha. My daughter is enrolled in a private school who doesn't offer grade 7. She started at 5 years old as Nursery and will be graduating this school year as grade 6 at the age of 12. So it means na 1 year lang ang idadagdag sa kanila to fit in the K+12 program? and for my youngest naman, I have to enroll him as eary as 3 years old turning 4 for the school year of Nursery since Kinder is for the age of 5 na? ??? Now same with other moms here, ang worry ko lang parang ang bata naman ng 6 years to have the curriculum of a first grader.. tama ba ko? ???

^re your last question...eto kasi ang pagkakaintindi ko since this will be my daughter's situation next year.
At 6yo, sa old setup dapat Prep/kinder 2 pa Lang (Iba-iba terminologies nito depending on the school)
With the k-12 program, this will be grade 1 kasi nga the requirement is 6yo or at least turning 6yo within a particular month (not sure of the month).
Now the question is with the new setup will a 6yo (or someone who's turning 6 yo) will have the same curriculum of a 1st grader in the old system? The answer, at least for my daughter's school, is NO. At grade 1 they will still have the same lessons for Prep of the old system.
Re on what age should your kid enter Preschool? Sa school ng daughter ko, in the old system they have 3 levels: Nursery, Kinder 1, Kinder 2. Now with the k-12, they only have 2 levels:
Nursery (4 yo or at least 3yo turning 4yo within the academic year) Kinder (5yo or at least 4yo turning 5yo within the academic year)
Just to note, even before this all k-12 issue, she entered Nursery (at a different school) at age 3 and celebrated her 4th birthday (July) within the academic year. Hmm I think the confusion lies on the age cutoff. It gets more complicated if you take into consideration the age cutoff requirement of school. For example: a kid must be x age by <month>.
Re your older child, I think the best way to answer that is by asking the school officials. Sadly, Iba iba din kasi ang way of implementing the private schools

^ Deped gives private schools a bit of autonomy when it comes to the age factor.
For public schools, cut-off for grade 1 is turning 6 by June of the school year, I think. [I did not pay too much attention when this was discussed yesterday at the K+12 seminar in my sons' preschool]
But iba-iba nga for private schools. Ateneo's cut-off for grade 1 now is turning 6 by October 1 of the school year. Before kasi for prep, the cut-off date was December 15. Ateneo will scrap its Prep program by next school year. Another target school of mine has a cut-off date of June 30, meaning, to qualify for admission to grade 1, the child must turn 6 by June 30. Miriam College naman will accelerate everyone next year. Based on my understanding, next school year, lahat ng senior kinder nila or whatever it is they call the highest level in their preschool ay magiging grade 2. Parang may mass acceleration yatang magaganap.
On another note, I listened (with an open mind) to Elvin Uy from Deped about the K+12 program. He shared a bit of the history and the 12 years primary education has been in the works since the time of the Americans. Maraming studies, shifts in the priorities and policies of different administrations, etc. kaya ngayon lang talaga in-implement. Bottom line, maganda ang objectives. Let's hope they implement it well, although it will be very challenging. I will support it rather than complain about it kasi wala namang magagawa ang negativity.

^i think Marose what will happen in Miriam, they're delaying the implementation of K12 to next year. So instead yung senior students nila ngayon is gawing grade 1, they stuck pa din to the old system. For next year para makahabol sa implementation, the current senior kinder now will be grade 2.
Oh re Ateneo, ang laking impact Kay M. He'll miss the cutoff by 1 month. Waaaaah! So definitely this will have big impact on our plans.
I really think the best way to understand how this k12 will affect one's child is to ask how will the current or the prospect school implement it.
Like you I'm giving this whole program a shot. Yes challenging but the objectives are good. And hopefully with Bro Armin's track record in the La Salle system he can make a big change in DepEd and the whole education system

^thanks sis, ganun na nga lang gagawin ko since wala pa kaming orientation for K+12, the other day na tumawag ako sa school, ang sabi they are conducting orientations every year for the parents of upcoming freshmen and preschoolers na sinimulan na nila before this schoolyear started.
