K+12 implementation
slickchick:
my son is in Kinder right now. and the school (boy's school in QC) has informed us that they will also start implementing K12 starting next school year. Kinder kids daw will be impacted in such a way that if they will be 6 years old by June 2012, they will be given assessment exams by January to determine if they can be accelerated to Grade1. those whose who will not make it sa assessment exam (and those whose ages are less than 6 by June 2012) will have to go through Prep (Kinder 2).

my son is one of those kids whose age is eligible for the assessment exam.. his teacher also advised me that there is a big chance that he might make the cut and be eligible for acceleration.  i only have one worry. baka masyadong ma-pressure yung mga bata in this case. i want my son to be in Grade 1 next year (syempre, sayang din ang 1 year tuition) pero ayaw ko naman din na sobra syang ma-pressure to the point na hindi na nya na-enjoy ang pag-aaral nya. Grade 1 is more difficult kasi may Filipino subject na plus writing intensive pa. haayyy.. nakakaawa yung  mga bata... sana nga, pinoy kids/students will be more competitive and at-par with their foreign counterparts once ma-implement yung K12 sa pilipinas.

^my daughter is june born, she'll be 6yo by next year.

slickchick:
^ my exact sentiment sis. i'm worried na baka kahit matalino yung bata, pero since mas demanding ang requirements ng elementary, baka ibalik din sya sa prep or worst, mag repeat ng grade1. mas magastos na, mas traumatic pa para sa bata. kaya on my end, ayaw ko rin ipressure yung anak ko na dapat pumasa sya sa assessment tests.
