Photo Wall Gallery in Living Room
« on: September 29, 2011, 06:43:26 PM »
I wish to have a photo wall like one of these

http://www.stamp48.com/2011/07/28/eclectic-gallery-displays/

I already started creating yung mga prints/photos and ready for printing na kaso ang problema di ako makahanap ng magagandang white frames (vintage or plain designs with matting).

Has anyone into photo wall project? Please share naman po your sources on framing.

Thanks po!

Joan

To simplify matters, and to better present your photos in an orderly (hindi masakit sa mata) way --- consider using just 1 frame in 1 size for all your photos on a single wall.  The adjustments would just be in the size of the matting utilized.  (Look at latest issues of  Architectural Digest & our better local interior design magazines... The mantra now is to not look cluttered, but to look put together)

That approach of using a uniform frame makes the photos pop out more.  Kahit sangkaterbang photos pa isabit mo... the wall will never look cluttered.

It will also make it easier for you to put together x no. of frames.  Just go to SM or Home... and get those frames in one go.   Measure mo muna your wall space, that portion you want to fill up with photos, then compute how many frames of a certain size you will need.   Get the biggest frame you are comfortable with... then no matter how small or big your photos are, ma accommodate nang frame na yan... sa matting nga lang ang adjustments.

If you wanna go for fancier, old-world elegant frames (which can be used as an effective foil in a modern-themed home) .. go to Gallery Frames at SM Mega.  Get their Spanish frames.. I meant, they have these framing materials from Spain they can measure and do up according to your specs.  These are pricey but well, really a good investment in the long run.

Joan, I am also having a hard time find that type of picture frame (with ready made mats) locally.  If you have a relative that sends regular balikbayan boxes, then you can shop online - Target, Ikea, JC Penny, etc - all carry them.  Prices range from USD 12.99-29.99 plus taxes and delivery fee.

You might also want to try buying the frames from SM as aquacharly suggested and just make the mats yourself.  Try copying what this couple did using white paper (not board):

http://www.younghouselove.com/2007/12/we-were-framed/

But if working with a cutter isn't your thing, try asking a framer to make the mats for you.

If you live in the south, Makati Supermarket and South Supermarket have branches of The Framer (if I'm not mistaken).

Dimensione has vintage frames but in dark colors only at P500 each.

You can't have it all.

To keep a photo wall gallery in living room you need keep up focus wall lights on the gallery which would give anyone coming in that room a catchy experience that something special has been put up.

^I'm from South, will check SM on weekends. :)

I went to Santa Cruz Manila (near Carriedo), nakita ko dun hilera ang mga gumagawa ng frames. Since wala ako makitang vintage frames, nagpacustomize ako ng plain white frames bale 6 lahat ibat ibang size. Super mura lang! Malayo kase ako sa santa cruz so need ko pa syang sadyain ulit para bumili ng new batch of frames ulit. :(

Saan banda ito sa Sta. Cruz?

ako naman ginagawa ko ginagamitan ko ng spray paint para ibahin ang kulay. i bought 4 frames on sale and i don't like the color so i spray paint it black and i like the outcome. kaya everytime i see frames on sale (for a very cheap price), or thrift store, garage sale i will buy right away. here's the picture of my diy.

I'm planning on doing the same thing on our living room wall. I'll look for good frames in Ikea. But first, I have to select the photos to be framed.

Post naman kayo ng photo link mga sis on the final outcome of your wall displays. I'll share mine once i'm done.

We're moving to a new place and this is what I intend to do. I want to convert our entire house into my own gallery. I plan to get the photos I've taken in the past printed on a canvas and hang them everywhere. I'll post photos as well when I'm done. :)

I once saw a promo on a group-buying site. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to avail of the promo because I haven't prepared the photos I want printed. I'll do it later on. Here's the site http://www.photocraftshop.com/products.html#content I like the gallery wrap style. Does anyone have other less expensive suggestions as to where we can have these done?:) I want a uniform size and frame for all photos because I am OC like that. Haha.

nagpa-print ako ng mga photos in canvas sa Brushstroke Creatives in SM MOA, sa thurs ko palang makukuha yung result. we will see if i'll be satisfied with the outcome.

but based from the products I saw in their showroom, mukhang de-qualidad naman, and I find their prices cheap compare to the others. sana matuwa ako sa thurs.
