^Sis Heatherette, why did you settle for tiles? I'm having my unit renovated right now and it's actually this thread that made me want to use glass for my kitchen backsplash. Bakit nagbago isip mo?

^Mas low maintenance kasi ang tiles sis than mirrors at natatakot ako na mangitim yung mirror. Maganda sana mirror kaso ayun nga, baka ako lang mahirapan in the long run. Plus, habang tumatagal mas nagagandahan ako sa itsura ng mosaic tiles as backsplash. I went on a hunt na for the tiles, wala pa ko magustuhan.

sa amin din tiles. ma-try nga ang glass or mirror kapag nagpa-renovate na din kami.

^I guess mirrors are really high maintenance pieces, but is it the same with glass (as in transparent lang)? I also thought of using a mirror pero masyado kasi halata yung mga talsik so I'm thinking glass na lang. Feeling ko din mas mahirap i-maintain ang tiles because of the grout but I could be wrong.

Anyway sis Heatherette, nakapag canvas ka na ba dati ng tempered glass? How much per square foot? TIA.

Hi! Licensed architect here. Ideally, the most economical is wall tiles talaga. Easy to install and less maintenance. But as designers we also innovate designs. Gumagamit din kami ng mosaic tiles, same as wall tiles, pero design wise mas maganda tignan. Installation is a bit complicated compared to the regular wall tile, but maintenance speaking, madali rin itong linisin. Another new innovation is graphicote (from Pacific Glass). Basically its just ordinary glass painted with different solid colors. Medyo costly pro maganda ang outcome. Madali rin linisin at installation naman yung supplier na. BUT, hindi namin ito inaadvise gamitin sa backspalsh ng gas range dahil marami nang cases na nagccrack ito dahil sa init...

Baligtad tayo sis. Nung una gusto ko mosaic tiles but when I read your post about glass, gusto ko na ngayon glass hehe.

Good luck sa hunting mo ng mosaic tiles! Try Federal baka meron.

if one uses tempered glass and mirrors as backsplash, black spots don't occur. but if one uses ordinary glass and mirror, black spots can occur as the mirror and glass ages. flipside is, tempered glass and mirrors are quite pricey.

May nakita ako sa isang interior design magazine, paint yung backsplash niya. Bale since isang wall yun, yung ref yung naka-harang to create the border sa rest ng wall tapos dark pink/magenta yung color nung likod na while parang gray na the rest of the room. Maganda sana kaso iniisip ko paano lilinisin pag natalsikan or nadumihan.

^Sis wala pa akong backsplash. Pero ang naisip ko, papapinturahan ko din yung wall where I plan to place the tempered glass. Partial ako sa blue ngayon. I'm thinking white or super light gray kasi yung cabinets (including overhead) tapos blue yung gitna nila. Gusto ko medyo ocean-y.

makikisali ako mag sisses.. on going construction bahay namin and wala akong tigil sa kakahanap ng magandag color combi ng tiles and paint.. partial ako sa white and gray... open kitchen kasi yung sa bahay sa dining and living room.. ano kaya masasugesst nyo mga sisses? TIA!

Merong glass backsplash na may wave design na color blue.

Or pwede rin [textspeak!] mosaic tiles na [textspeak!] form niya parang ocean waves. You can do a diy din, just buy blue tiles and white or light gray na tiles, then icrack mo silang lahat with a hammer, then make a wavy-esque design sa backsplash.

Add a pop off yellow if you want.

^For color combinations, marami yan. Basta make sure na magcomplement siya sa wall color mo especially open kitchen siya. If all else fails, go with neutrals!

Work with white beige tan black .. it never fails.

Ano ba color scheme ng living room mo?

^^Sis pareho tayo open kitchen tapos my cabinets are light gray and walls are white. Ayoko ng masyado maraming kulay so plan ko solid color lang yung backsplash. Tapos na carpentry works sa bahay mo?

Hindi naman madaming waves. Isang wave lang na malaki, yung parang sa surfing. Parang isang curve lang siya.

Oh no, I will have my cabinets repainted. I wanted them gray kaya lang when I saw them yesterday na-disappoint ako. Mukha silang steel lockers.

^Where did you bought your paint sis?

May nakita ako parang oceany na mosaic tiles sa Floor Center kaso di ko type kasi dark blue na white ang color niya. Gusto ko kasi gray, black and white na mosaic tiles.
