Home Improvement - Tips on How to Save
« on: June 28, 2011, 12:01:23 AM »
Hi Mga Sis! Me and my husband always have problems sa pakikipag usap sa mga contractors at suppliers, minsan naloloko kami or namamahalan..
Please give us tips on:

Add pa kayo mga sis if may iba pa na dapat i discuss.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm giving our masterbedroom a makeover with just a 5k budget. so far, 1.6k palang ang nagagastos ko.

Everything is DIY kasi, but maybe it can help:

^ referrals ba yung mga nakakusap ninyong contractors? mas ok kasi if you can get feedbacks from others.

ang dilemma naman namin kung saan kami makakahanap ng magaling and hindi super mahal sumingil na contractors/karpitenro/electrician, etc. we're planning naman to have a small room + toilet & bath (2nd floor) but honestly wala kaming idea kung how much dapat ang budget.

@sofala thanks for your post! you gave me an idea to call shops para mag-canvass; at least pwede mapagplanuhan ;)

^ no prob sissies.

Usually 500 pesos ang per day ng isang karpintero eh. Mas mataas ng konti yung foreman. Pag pakyawan depende na.

Yung auntie ko nun nagpagawa kitchen cabinets tapos isang china cabinet at bay window seating. Nagsingil 30k for everything including materials. namahalan pako sa totoo lang.

Pero to paint a normal size room, they should be done one day lang pag dalawa sila, minsan nga halfday lang eh, pag madami sila.

I agree with Sofala. I just had my home improvement and hindi din biro ang nagastos namin. Ang contractor namin is 25k eto mga ginawa nila. kisame, room partition, mga cabinet (closet, kitchen cabinet, hanging cabinet for our LV room and console), yung foundation ng fence (hollow blocks) then sinemento nila yung bakuran.

Modify a lighting style & preserve a bundle. Energy Star certified lights are 75% more effective than incandescent lights. When just one room in every home is brightened by this lighting, the modification will keep over one billion pounds out of  carbon dioxide out of our air.
