napansin ko sobrang pahirapan ngayon yung qualifications ng mga FA noh, parang kailangan eh dapat artistahin or kutis artista ka para matanggap, lol, dito sa US napansin ko mga FA nila (domestic flights) may mga oldies and doesn't really matter yung physical appearances

korek ka jan sis @khat. i fly emirates every December since i moved to pinas to visit my family and they're all not so bongang kagandahan na super model looking.
yung mga domestic flights nga here like cebu pacific some FA's mas taller pa ako. actually sabi nung friend ko mahigpit lang talaga sa pinas ang recruiters unlike if mag walk in ka at lets say emitates. maybe may image sila na pinaninindigan lol
i have friends who are FA's at Oman air, air arabia&emirates lahat sila ng walk in lang even if sa pinas sila galing kinuha sila ng dad nila.
thats what i'm planning on doing kase dito parang big deal na mukang artista ka dapat pero pag kita mo sa mga FA's simple naman karamihan. tapos sa domestic pa dito sa pinas 25years old lang eh i graduated at 25 then nag board exam pa kase galing ako abroad so they keep asking bakit late ako nakatapos di nila ma gets educational system sa abroad. kalowka lang. oh well..  :)

minsan hindi rin sa hitsura.minsan sa personality rin talaga. when i apply sa cebu pac i was very young back then. hindi ako marunong mag-make up, wala talagang kaayos ayos. mga kasabayan ko ang tatangkad at ang gaganda ng porma parang mga model. ako naka pink sunday dress na sleeveless na knee high parang magsisimba lang lol.wala rin kasi akong money before pambili ng proper attire at make up. but then siguro nakita lang din ng nag-interview sa akin na gustong gusto ko talaga at super smile lang ako kahit sobrang kaba at hiya. kaya mga sis go lang ng go :)

I say go for it.
I applied for a flight attendant job at PAL way back when I was just 23 but I did not get it. Why? I was not prepared. I did not dress the part (I wore a sleeveless top, printed skirt and flats, so casual), had neither make up nor blow dry (I was going for the natural look, which was a big mistake), did not smile (too nervous), slouched a lot. Although some of the girls were taller than me (I'm 5 feet four inches without heels), I did not exactly lag behind in the looks department. I failed the very first test, what they call impact interview.
This began my downward spiral. I lost confidence in myself.
Hindsight is 20/20. I should have dusted myself off, picked up the pieces and applied for the same position at another airline. Gosh! It took me 30 years to figure this one out. Now I'm over the hill and that's one mistake I was not able to recover from.
I wanted to be a flight attendant because I love to travel, meet people form all walks of life, visit as many places as I can, be well-groomed and smartly-dressed at all times.
Although I have all of these now (I live a very comfortable and financially blessed existence), the cries of unfulfilled dreams and lost opportunities still haunt me to this day. I have so many what ifs and what could have beens.
A career in the airline industry has a very short shelf life. You have the benefit of my experience.
So GO for it. Be prepared and just DO it.

whenever i fly emirates or etihad (dubai/abu dhabi to/from Manila), pansin ko lang hindi ganun ka-hot yung mga attendants, some are short and some are fat lalo na pag pinay or indian. pero yung dubai/abu dhabi to uk/eu mga matatangkad na slim yung mga FAs. mga airlines na may hot FAs na nasakyan ko: koreanair, thai airways, and cathay. american airlines naman mga matatanda  ;D pansin ko rin pala sa emirates and etihad, ang susungit ng mga pinay FAs lalo na kung pilipino yung binibigyan nila ng service.

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

^really? tapos ang screening dito akala mo beauty pageant. may kakilala nga ako nasa air aisa ewan ko paano siya natanggagp doon. im way taller than her and hindi sa pagmamalaki prettier than her. swertehin din siguro. im already 25 kahit gusto ko itry nakakaloka ang screening ng FAs dito ginagawang pageant hehe, sana makapag out of the country ako minsan at maka tsamba ng screening. and i think it's not yet late for me. kasi like what you've said,  sa mga american airlines nga matatanda din nakikita ko hehe. who knows.  ;D

korek ka jan sis ako it was my childhood dream talaga kase i fly a lot pero as a passenger hehe actually  yung best friends of my mom was with cathay&emirates  and as far as they have told me madami nag aapply na above 25 kase it will take you a year or so bago ka ma upgrade to fly airbus start ka ata muna sa boeing&short flights if i'm correct small plane muna also economy class muna parang mataas na position if nasa 1st class ka iba na din uniform. yung friend niya sa emirates parang 40+yrs old na nung nag retire as in sinulit niya hehe lalake naman kc yun tapos naging asawa niya stewardess din cute diba.
yung isang friend ko sa oman start niya she was just a reliever pag may nag off saka sha nag fly mga 2x a week nga lang daw baka kanya kanya yun depende sa airlines. and sabi nung isang friend ko naman since matagal na sha nag fly parang libre na enhancements niya sa face tumatanda na kase not sure lang if may derma sa airline nila or meron sila tie up na derma at charge to company na. meron sila mga kasama nasa 45yrs old na then they shift to ground position if mag aasawa.
i just got the courage nung tinawagan ako ni airphil earlier this year it was then na i realized how much i wanted this and sana dito nalang din sa pinas kase i like it here kaso parang ayaw sa akin ng pinas lol
kaya eto target na international. hopefully next month i get to go back to Dubai at susugod na ko confident&prepared.   ;)

ano experience mo sa qatar airways interview sis? dami kase nag sabi sakin not nice daw treatment doon kaya lagi hiring don't know lang if true kc wala ako kilala doon.
sabi ni friend sa oman air may question daw na what wuold you do if may isang seat nalang available sa 1st class kanino mo bibigay? sa ceo ng airlines, senior citizen passenger, disabled passenger or passenger with a baby.
puro daw situational karimihan tanong at jogsak ka if di ok sagot mo even if tama naman in geneeral, dapat daw customer service oriented/related. ano naman kaya ang tamang sagot dun sa tanog na yun naloka ako.
meron din naman daw depende sa airline they need x-ray ng teeth mo to see saan ang mga retoke na teeth like pasta pati wisdom tooth if impacted minsan pinapatangal daw. natawa nga ako parang they screen you physically na nga kasama pa body&soul as in 100000% lol parang napaka imperfect mo pag di ka pumasa.
pero masaya lang ma experience yung ganoon na parang to see what people go through to get in.

Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines have the best-looking FAs, IMO. Swiss, Emirates, Virgin, and Etihad have average-looking ones.

I haven't tried PAL nor CebuPac, so I really can't judge.

Open day- Watch a presentation about Qatar and Qatar Airways. pwede mag ask questions pero sympre nahiya ako. tapos collect CV's and while doing that, they will ask questions more on background check&what you're like as a person kaya dapat impress ka agad.  ;)
Assessment day- For people who got "THE" phone call after OD. bawal na walk in. eto na write a short essay, sila mag give about what mostly situational. tapos arm reach test and weight etc. after essay and nose bleed, they divide into groups na and make group activities. eto na ang mahirap kase you need to get along with group mates meron mga shonga lang, may tahimik at meron naman super feeling boss. after niyo mag present parang 30mins bawat group, mag cut off na sila as in parang half or 70% nang tao nawala!
super subaybay sila sa mga applicants, as in parang nasa pageant ka! smile palagi, sit straight, poise, wag tatawa malakas etc kase pinapanood nila bawat galaw mo...nakakaloka! akala ko keme lang PBB pala iksena lol kaya pala "be your self" madalas na sinasabi.
tapos nag cut ulit sila for last day 3rd day bago natapos yung araw as in 7 or 10 nalang naiwan samin. good luck naman diba! matira matibay.
Final interview- mas di na sha haggard parang nag uusap nalang kayo they'll give situations lang na sobrang hirap like paano mo handle if you experience it on board, proove you're worthy na talaga. kumbaga test nalang if tama ba na ikaw naiwan from the rest.
altho di pa din naman sure if hired ka after 3rd/last interview kase wait pa ulit within 3 weeks mag email or call sila if you're in.
bow!
at may nag sabi sa akin super strict nga nang Qatar air may bond din sila if di mo matapos yung contract paysum mo sila nung bond. and eto di ko kinaya- pag nag ka pimples ka while on duty ma reduce salary mo to basic salary at magging parang suspended ka daw parang puro local flights lang ata or magging sa ground ka lang. over diba!
kaya pala every 6 months sila nag exam dami nila tinatangal kase probationary ka muna diba so if di ka magustohan tegi ka na agad. wala na tanong tanong.

Bro what do you mean by this? Going to uk/eu matatangkad na slim FAs ng emirates/etihad? At kapag mnl flights naman, it's the opposite? If yes, hindi pinipili based on the looks who goes where. And may i add, hindi fashion show ang pagiging fa so if people are expecting beauty queens and models strutting the aisle, well sorry to disappoint you.

Regarding sa attitude, only a small number of pinoys siguro ang masungit.  Bawal na bawal magsungit lalo na ME airline.  Maintindihan ko pa kung eu/uk airline yan, pero ME, it's a no no. They are strongly against discrimination as well. Nasa personality at brains yun.
