may 4, 8:30 pm, cable tours bus ang sinakyan namin near trinity university of asia manila to bontoc. then sumakay kami ng jeep from bontoc to sagada.

Been to Sagada last May 5-7. Sobrang saya. :P

:) We tried all the restaurant sa center like masferre (don't know kung tama spelling ko  :P), lemon pie house, salt and pepper and lucky's shanghai house. we gonna try sana yoghurt house pero nagbago isip namin. hehe we also went to Gaia, parang kubo sya na mataas na kita mo na ang rice terraces. may zipline din na inooffer malapit sa Gaia. Medyo adventurous talaga kami ang we went down para malapitan namin ang rice terraces. upclose and personal sa rice terraces ang drama!  ;Dhehe btw, nilakad lang namin lahat yan from misty lodge to Sagada town proper until Gaia to appreciate the place  :) nakauwi na kami sa lodge mga 8pm. madilim since walang ilaw sa kalsada pero you can feel na safe ka dun. natuwa naman kami ahit hindi nasunod itinerary namin. sobrang sakit kasi ng mga katawan naman kaya naisip namin na baka hindi namin kayanin ang mt.ampacao. hehe

May 7, we got up early kasi sunrise in kiltepan ang drama namin.  :) nilakad nalang nmin from misty lodge. btw, si kuya sotero pala ang tour guide namin. very accommodating si kuya sotero! :) nag cave connection kami wag daw mahiya kung tapakan namin sa hita at balikat sya. i recommend kuya sotero from saggas.  ;)

12:30 pm uwian na. lizardo bus from sagada to baguio. then victory liner from  baguio  to cubao.

sis gulaysk, yes Echo Valley/Hanging Coffins/Small Falls/St. Mary's Church can be done in the afternoon :) magkakadikit lang sila, except sa Small Falls. pero walking distance lang din.

i suggest you tweak your itinerary a little though. You may swap Day 2 with Day 3. Kasi Kiltepan-Marlboro is hindi nakakapagod, para may strength pa next day. Mt. Ampacao is higher than Marlboro.  2hrs trek.

Regarding Kiltepan-Marlboro: We walked to Kiltepan from SAGGAS 5am-6am (1hr, uphill siya). Wait for sunrise and konting rest. Then Kiltepan to Marlboro 7am-8am (1hr since mostly is downhill na, then going up to Marlboro is not nakakapagod naman unlike Kiltepan) then rest for an hour. 9am-10:30am back to inn. roughly 7km total. (we did Bomod-ok in the afternoon, last day. so no worries sa activity next day kung pagod hehe)

Going to Bomod-ok is may jeep minsan, minsan wala. So prepare for cash just in case. May mini-van which costs Php650 round-trip na.

Ano tingin niyo?

Day 1 am: Arrive at Sagada, lunch and rest
         pm: Cave Connection

Day 2 am: Bomod-ok Falls
         pm: Mt. Ampacao-Lake Danum

Day 3 am: Kiltepan-Marlboro
         pm: Echo Valley/Hanging Coffins/Small Falls/St. Mary's

Day 4 am: Breakfast, shop for pasalubong, back to Manila.
depende kung everyday active kayo and may regular exercise  malakas ang resistance mo kahit first timer kaya itong i.t. mo  ;D

true, tiring talaga ang cave connectipn or you may just do the normal sumaguing cave. i doubt it on the 2nd day tiring yan trekk to big falls then trekk sa mt.ampacao in the afternoon. you may interchange day 2 and 3 .  since nakakapagod ang cave connectiion medyo relax trek muna ang gawin nyo on 2nd day. on the 3rd day larga uli sa bigfalls.

Day 1 am: Arrive at Sagada, lunch and rest
         pm: Cave Connection

Day 2 am: Kiltepan-Marlboro
pm : Lake danum - mt. ampacao

Day 2 am: Bomod-ok Falls
pm: St. Mary's / echo valley/ hanging coffin.
         pm: souvenir hunt

Day 4 am: Breakfast, shop for pasalubong, back to Manila

Though I'm willing to drop one trip. Kiltepan-Marlboro or Mt Ampacao-Lake Danum? Parang I'm leaning more on dropping Ampacao-Danum kung sakali.

Btw, we'll be staying in Kanip-aw. I already texted Perry to ask him to be our guide. Sabi niya, "wow that's too far po...that will take you approximately 2 days to do that po" LOL! Natawa talaga ako. Akala niya siguro hardcore akyat bundok ang iga-guide niya. Hehe.

^lol @ Mt. Ampacao to Lake Danum! pwede mong i-drop sis yung Mt. Ampacao but still continue to Lake Danum via van (Php550 round trip).

Cave connection is not that tiring naman, yung after caving, then paakyat ng stairs, yun ang nakakapagod but around 30 steps lang naman hehe. don't worry, wala akong exercise and we finished it in 3 hours so kaya niyo yan. Yung pasukan kasi ng Sumaging is same sa lalabasan, kaya mas ok mag cave connection. If pagod pa kayo after lunch, skip Mt. Ampacao na lang so may strength pa for next day. ;)

If i were to revise your itinerary,
Day 1: Echo Valley, Bokong
Day 2: AM Cave connection, PM Mt. Ampacao-Lake Danum
Day 3: Kiltepan, Marlboro, Big Falls

Big Falls kasi is hagdan type, so mararamdaman mo yung pagod paguwi. I'll PM you sis sa residential lodge where we stayed, Php250/night siya. baka makatipid hehe.

Mukhang malabo na magawa namin ang Big Falls on a morning, no? If worse comes to worst at bumigay ang katawan namin, we might consider letting go of the Ampacao-Danum tour. Hehe.

Got your pm sis. I might opt for the residential lodge you're recommending. Cheaper kasi than Kanip-aw's which is P300/night. Thanks! : )

^pwede naman Big Falls sa morning, pagod lang talaga hehe. after some rest, you'll be okay na :)

For peeps who wants a home service massage, I suggest Vishok Yogi. He's a yoga wellness instructor and specializes in shiatsu, thai, and chinese meridian massage. Php300 lang rate niya for almost 2 hours :) I'm not sure if I could post his number in public, so PM na lang those who wants his number. Sakanya kami nagpa-massage after our 3rd day.

hehe.. wala kasing exercise kaya siguro na-shock mga katawan namin. kahit my 2 friends ha sumakit katawan nila kahit lagi silang nag-mountain hiking. bumigay din yung dalawa nung Day 2 namin. drama pa nga ng isa kong friend, "i came here to relax." hehe so pinagbigyan namin. worth it naman kasi nalibot namin buong town proper ng sagada. :)  buti nga ok lang din kay kuya sotero ng saggas na nagbago schedule namin sa second day ^^. kung sanay naman katawan mo sa mga extreme adventures, kakayanin mo yan. btw, ayon sa saggas, level of difficulty ng cave connection is "very hard" kaya ganun, sumakit talaga katawan namin. buwis buhay din! instead na cave connection, you may try sumaguing cave nalang. crystal cave connection ang pinaka-extreme sa lahat ng cave sabi ng saggas. :)

drama pa nga ng isa kong friend, "i came here to relax."

quoted this line. tama ang friend mo :) kaya huwag ubusin ang lakas sa isang araw na activity para may lakas pa for the next two days di man mapuntahan ang lahat at least you still have a reason to go back and enjoi the place.

@ gulaysk - si perry ba magiging guide nyo? kapit bahay lang sila ni kanip-aw hahaha sa baba si perry sa taas si kanip-aw :) 300 per night very clean place with private c.r. and you have a great view facing the mountain valley  :)

^Yep sis, si Perry nga. We'll be staying in Kanip-aw. So excited to see the mountain view.

Thanks for all your tips/feedback/kwento. Will definitely be sharing mine when I get back. : )

I'm back from Sagada. : )

As promised, here's my kwento:

Day 1- We arrived in Sagada at lunch time kaya dumiretso na sa Yoghurt House then headed to Kanip-aw for check-in. Kanip-aw. Good for 3 persons ang kwarto (1 double bed, 1 single bed) kaya siguro P600/night din ang rate. Room was very clean at may hot shower. Kuya Oscar and his wife were so warm and accommodating, masarap makipagchikahan sa kanila.

We texted Perry about our plan to do the Echo Valley/Hanging Coffins tour in the afternoon pero hindi na kami natuloy dahil biglang bumuhos na ang ulan. For dinner, sa Lucky's Shanghai Haus kami and had pork kaldereta. Sarap!

Day 2- We catched the Kiltepan sunrise noong early morning. Swerte nga at nagpakita ang sunrise. Panalo ang view. Medyo worried lang ako na ma-loser kami sa Kiltepan kasi nga ang lakas ng ulan the day before.

After breakfast, sinundo na kami ni Perry para sa hike to Marlboro Mt. Nilakad lang namin papunta. Yung mismong hike namin sa peak ng Marlboro was about an hour, give or take. While hiking, may mga wild strawberries kaming napitas.

Hehe. On the way to Sumaguing, nadulas si hubby sa isang bato.

We rented a van c/o Perry. Sasama na rin dapat sya sa Big Falls kaya lang may nakasabay din kaming another couple staying in Kanip-aw at may kasama na rin silang guide from SAGGAs kaya hindi na siya sumama. Our guide from NOSIGA was Ate Gloria Macogay. Highly recommended si Ate Gloria, very motherly at masarap kakuwentuhan.

She didn't speak ill at all about the two groups. Sabi lang niya, may mga nilabag daw kasi sila sa kasunduan between those two groups at ng NOSIGA (concerning the Northerners' customs/practices, mostly).

Hehe.

Day 4- Echo Valley, Hanging coffins and pasalubong shopping (Mountain Tea P20/pack, Bana's Coffee medium dark roast P150/pack, Gabay blueberry and mulberry jam P150/jam, box of lemon pie from Lemon Pie House which we forgot to claim)

Pauwi, we missed the last trip going to Bontoc. 1pm dapat yun, we got to the terminal minutes early pero sabi ay nakaalis na raw. Kaya for those planning to catch the last trip, better get there early.

So, ang masasabi ko lang to sum up my Sagada experience ay: I'll definitely be back! : )
